We had a fun time on the river and had a great chance to experience Montana from a different view. The Kajakes were easy to handle and we felt very save when he put us out there.
We had a great time! He was very good and patient with both my son and i. He didn't rush us and and made sure we were comfortable before going out in the water!
Great Experience! I would definitely come back and rent from Canoe House again. For a fair price, my friend and myself got our own kayaks and life vests and the owner dropped us off at a local boat landing where we floated, at our own pace, back to our car. The experience is definitely for a person who just wants to go adventuring on their own and not be shepherded around by a tour guide. The river is fairly quick in this area and has some mild rapids. I would, however, advise anyone who is contemplating doing this to not bring your car keys along with you in the river. You should probably hide them on one of your tires or around your car somewhere. One might hit a rapid or a bush that is jetting out into the water and one might flip a kayak and one might lose their cell phone, rental car keys, and wallet in the waist deep portion of this fast moving river. Not saying that this has ever happened to me, but of course it could theoretically happen.
The best place in Montana to rent a canoe or kayak. The Canoeing House has a private Jefferson River access, where canoers park and get a shuttle up river. We paid 25.00 per person and received a canoe, paddles, life vests. The best part was that the shuttle was included! The folks took their time, and as beginners we were taught how to get stability the canoe and landmarks to look for as we paddled. Great day trip in Three Forks, Montana. They can also handle large groups!
